The “Concurs de Castells” is hosted in the city of Tarragona once every two years and holds strong as the worlds most important human tower competition with over 32 teams from all around Catalonia competing. With a live audience of more than 20,000 people cheering on each team as they strive to reach the clouds. The concept is simple, whomever creates the tallest tower utilizing only the human body wins. Luckily Spanish photographer, David Oliete, was on hand to capture a unique aerial perspective of the historical event. Teams are crafted between 100 to 500 women and men in their pursuit to create the largest human structures possible. The youngest and lightest members form the top of the tower while heavier members hold down to create a strong base. Check it out below.
